Autumn Harvest Festival 2024

Ahh, autumn. That magical time when Minnesota’s trees get fancy, we can start accessorizing again, and the mosquitoes are sent back to the wretched hell from whence they came.

To ring in Minnesota’s most elegant season, the Mounds Park Community Garden held a very special gathering: our Autumn Harvest Festival. It was the perfect event to embrace the beauty of fall and enjoy a day full of fun, food, and festivities with our dear friends and neighbors.

Like so many other events at the garden, I was astounded by our community’s enthusiasm to help out, and contribute their talents and labor to make this a truly memorable event.

The day started on a perfect note. The weather was warm, dry, and exceptionally autumnal. PEAK Minnesota!

Attendees arriving were treated to an incredible performance by Traci Buckle and bass player Mark Fischer from 4 Down/6 Across. Their music set the mood beautifully as guests arrived and settled in for the festivities. And a special thanks to friend of the garden, Amanda Garza and her family for bringing fabulous samples of her delicious rolls from Amanda's kitchen & Baked Goods and tallow skincare products.

Other highlights include:

  • Andrea Troiano’s incredible Biscoff cream pie won our pie competition

  • The corn hole competition remained civil and no punches were thrown (always a plus)

  • There was plenty of seating and food for everyone!

  • Misty Burnette set up the coolest photo booth for festive autumn portraits

We were also thrilled to see several new faces—people who’d heard about the event through word of mouth (!) and came to join the fun. It was a privilege to welcome them, show them around the garden and introduce them to our community.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of so many dedicated volunteers. From planning and coordinating the festivities, sourcing the supplies, making centerpieces for the tables, decorations for the fence, and setting up lights, tables, and seating, everyone’s hard work really brought this event home.

This festival was fantastic from start to finish—the people, music, food, and connections—what a joy to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming event. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Autumn Harvest Festival a smashing success—we can’t wait for next year!
